Would it be inappropriate or creative to put colors or clip art on a elementary teacher resume?

Resumes and cover letters should stand out when applying for a teaching job, especially in this economy (i live CA).

I saw this resume I was wondering if putting color or clipart like that is appropriate or considered unprofessional?

  • The books on the example you referenced was appropriate. However, I wouldn’t go overboard by pasting in silly cartoon like characters, using more than one clip art image, or going Legally Blonde by sumbitting your resume on pink scented paper!

Keep it professional! Show your style and personality during your interviews and/or teacher portfolio. :) Good luck!

  • i think it is inapropraite but it mostly will depend on your age if young no color because it may make your boss think your immature and if older can make ur boss think youre creative

  • The small colorful image in the sample resume you linked to is tasteful and probably all right. Just make sure yours is similarly tasteful and it will probably be a good eye-catcher.

  • are you submitting it to an adult or a child?

  • I don’t think it will do any major harm, but I would err on the side of caution, because it won’t likely help.

  • i have no expertise or experience in hiring people.
but my judgement however would be colours could be good. . .but dont use clipart this would look cheap/tacky.

  • I think if it serves a purpose then it could be okay. But don’t go too crazy with it, it still needs to look professional.
